Items should be placed into a clear sandwich-size baggie. Please include things like: soap; shampoo; comb; tooth paste/brush; band aides; tissues; candy bar., etc. Completed Love Kits can be placed in the basket  provided at the front of the sanctuary - they kits will be collected during March and April and delivered to the Shelter at the end of April.  Contact Lee Cameron for further information 489-2487

Healing A Woman's Soul

Domestic violence is the single major cause of injury to women, exceeding muggings, murders, rapes and car accidents. On Saturday, April 17, from 9:00-3:00, Trinity Church in Potsdam, 8 Maple Street on Fall Island, will host a training about how to help victims heal called “Hope for the Journey: The Church and Domestic Violence,” focusing especially on the impacts on women and children in our community and how as people of faith we can reach out. This includes knowing the nature of domestic violence, the signs of abuse and where to go for help. Participants will also understand why men become victims and why women may return to the abuser.

The program is sponsored by Healing A Woman’s Soul, Inc., an ecumenical ministry that helps churches provide settings where God’s healing can begin. The training will be led by Karla DiGirolamo and Rev. Anne Curtin. Ms. Digirolamo is a nationally known expert on domestic violence issues and Chief Operating Officer of Unity House in Troy New York, which among other activities is the Rensselaer County Domestic violence shelter provider. Rev. Curtin is a former teacher and attorney and is now an Episcopal priest. She has led abuse prevention programs for the Episcopal Diocese of Albany.

2Zion Church Plea

Our dear historic Zion Church, Morris, NY, is in great need...water and old technology in the undercroft portion of the Church have allowed shifting of beams and foundation walls as well a cracked inner, outer and upper walls and stonework.  This endangers the marble altar...wall...pipe organ...stained glass window and sacristy.  At this point we have raised $440,000 through pledges, gifts and grants.  As a sister church, we hope you will prayerfully consider and find a way to make a donation to our Zion Church Capital Campaign.
